書如輪轉
紐約可憎的地方很多,可愛的地方也多不遑多讓。例如有人丟書到街上,也有人去撿這些書。
有一個組織,宗旨是鼓勵大家看書。每月都在地鐵站「丟書」,這些書都是紐約客捐贈的。看完了,不想丟出街外,倒不如捐了出去。
昨晚與友人路經哥倫布環(Columbus Circle)地鐵站,就碰到這個組織了。他們的圖書種類很雜,是否拿到你想看的就要看緣份了。
一大堆人圍著義工團團轉,不斷翻箱倒篋。這些書都不要錢的,你看完了,可以在下一個月某個時間還回給他們。到時候,自然會有其他人想看。
我拿到一本馬奎斯的小說集,平裝版,也挺乾淨的。朋友拿了一本兒童圖畫書給女兒。
一個城市要推動讀書風氣,不是單靠書展的,風氣是要大家一點一滴累積的。

But actually every New Yorker knows that you can never afford to live in certain neighborhood. It’s way way too expensive unless you share with someone. A lot of students or fresh graduates share apartments with the others.
I’m planing to write more about different neighborhoods in NYC.
I really like this ideas, and I wish we have it here (which is quite impossible); 但連多倫多都沒有搞這類活動呀!
